Vasan: 276 port projects being implemented
The Union government is implementing 276 projects to develop Major Ports under the National Maritime Development Programme (NMDP), the Shipping Minister, Mr G. K. Vasan, told the Lok Sabha.
As for non-major ports, he said the responsibility for development of these lay with the respective state governments.
A proposal to set up Andaman and Nicobar Port Trust, with headquarters at Port Blair, was also under consideration, he added.
